Sometimes you may have to undo a change or Option (Alt) click from the red again to redefine the clone source. Begin slowing clicking the mouse over the logo and you'll see that the red color now covers over the logo.Ĭontinue to work your way around the logo. Now let go of the Option key (or Alt) and make sure the cursor is a circle again. Then click the red door of the car making sure you don't click any of the logo as well this will set the red color as our cloning source. To begin, hold down the Option key (or Alt if you use a PC). Also, like our last lessons, it will be easier to enlarge the Layer panel, zoom in on the image and move the image to where we need to edit using the Hand tool in the tools panel if necessary. For our image, we need to paint over the logo "114 Porsche" so that it resembles the color red found on the car door. Next, make sure the brushes panel is open ( Found in Window-Brushes) and select a soft brush with a smaller tip. Your cursor will morph into a circle when you hover it over the image. When you have the image in the Layer panel, click the Clone Stamp tool option found in the tools menu at the top of the screen. To do this, drag the clip you want to edit into the timeline panel and double click the image in the timeline panel to open up the Layer panel.

To use Clone stamp, your image must be placed into the Layer panel. We start by opening a new project in After Effects and loading our image into the Project Panel. In this example, a client has asked to remove the numbers from the side of a race car and replace them with a new number. It's most often used for touching up photos for things such as makeup, blemishes, acne, etc. Clone stamp is used to sample pixels from a layer and then apply these pixels to another portion of the same layer or a different layer in the same composition. If you've used Photoshop before chances are that you've probably also used the Clone stamp tool or at least saw the option for it in Photoshop.
